Industries where these treatments are often used:

Vanadizing is applied in the aluminium and brass processing industry, where it is used for machining equipment, press arbours and moulds etc. This treatment also works very well for parts used in textile processing machines in particular. Vanadizing results in an exceptionally high surface hardness and is therefore very suitable for abrasive applications. All unalloyed and low-alloyed ferrous metals with a maximum of 12% Cr can be treated in this process. The carbon content should preferably be >0.3%. Some examples of parts treated in this way include machining tools, stamping nipples and moulds out of DIN 1.2343/1.2344

Characteristics of the vanadizing treatment:

  • Surface hardness: ± 3000 Micro Vickers
