Aluminizing

With this form of diffusion, we apply aluminium to the surface of metals. As a result, aluminium oxide forms on the surface, bringing the great advantage of high temperature resistance of up to 1500°C. The ‘self-healing’ property restores the aluminium-oxide layer in an oxygen-rich, high-temperature environment. The layer prevents the diffusion of other materials, such as carbon on the surface of piping systems (‘coke prevention’).

Common applications are heat exchangers and ferrules in the chemical and petrochemical industries. Aluminizing is also widely used in power stations.

Characteristics of aluminizing

  •  Layer depth: 25 - 500 µm
  • Temperature resistance up to 1500°C
  • Property: diffusion barrier (prevention of carbon diffusion, for example)
  • Suitable for all ferrous metals
  • Performed according to ASTM B875-96
  • Standard maximum dimensions: 3200 x 2000 x 900 mm
  • Other dimensions with a maximum length of 9000 mm on request
