Vanadizing
For the aluminium and brass-processing industry, we can increase the wear resistance of materials by diffusing vanadium. The technique is used for remoulding tools, arbor presses, and moulds. Components in textile machines are also ideal for this application.
Characteristics of vanadizing
- Layer depth: 3-10 µm
- Temperature resistance up to ± 750°C
- Surface hardness ± 3000 Micro-Vickers
- Low coefficient of friction
- Good anti-stick properties
- Longer service life for your tools
- Reduces overall costs
- Higher material heat conduction
- High elasticity
- Highly polishable
- Standard maximum dimensions: 1000 x 350 x 350 mm
- Other dimensions on request
Cases
Extremely high surface hardness
Vanadizing produces an extremely high surface hardness, making it very suitable for abrasive applications up to 750°C. All unalloyed and low-alloy ferrous metals (with a maximum of 12% Cr) can be treated with the technique. The carbon content should ideally be >0.3%. Examples of treated parts are remoulding tools, cutting punches, and moulds made from DIN 1.2343/1.2344 material.
Material analysis
Our work starts with research. From a straightforward material analysis to a more complex damage investigation. At our lab, almost anything is possible.
